*Prosecco
di Valdobbiadene DOC NV
(Bernardi) |
|
|
A delicious, easy drinking lightly sparkling Prosecco
with a hint of sweetness from the fruit. Soft and clean
on the palate it makes an excellent aperitif for
parties. |
|
£111 per case (equiv £9.25 per bottle) |

*Moscato
d'Asti DOC, 2008: Clarte
(Elio Perrone) |
 |
|
Sweet, bubbly and only 5% alcohol: a traditional Italian
pick-me-up. In the hands of a master such as
Perrone, Moscato can be crisp, refreshing and well
balanced. Drink very cold as an aperitif, or with
puddings. A wonderfully light way to start or
finish a meal. |
|
£117 per case (equiv £9.75 per bottle) |

*Prosecco di Valdobbiadene DOC 2007
(Bellenda)
|
|
|
A lovely fresh sophisticated Prosecco with bright fruit
and a clean effervescence. Ideal for parties, this
will set the conversation buzzing.
Will be good to finish off a meal also as fashion
now seems to be adopting this excellently civilised
final fling. |
|
£129.60 per case (equiv £10.80 per bottle) |
|
Code: 276 |
|
*Lambrusco
Grasparosa di Castelvetro DOC 2009
(Tenuta Pederzana) |
|
|
Lambrusco can be the
Italian equivalent of Marmite: love it or hate it.
In the UK it is usually the latter because the natural
CO2 required to make this frothy has to be reinjected
after travel so it is more like Lucozade than the
youthful uncomplicated low alcohol drink it is supposed
to be, designed to be drunk with the pork products of
Northern Italy. Try this one with Parmigiano and
Parma Ham. Don't take it to parties! |
|
£138
per case (equiv £11.50 per bottle) |
|

|
Bigaro
Rosato, 2009
(Elio Perrone) |
|
|
A sensational blend of 50% Moscato and 50% Bracchetto
this wine is only made in small quantities but we have
managed to get hold of a few cases. Bracchetto
gives the pink and adds a berry complexity to the
already beguiling moscato grape flavours. Low
alcohol frizzante which is a wonderful summer dessert
wine. |
|
£111 per case (equiv £9.75 per bottle) |

|
Gutturnio Vivace 2007 (La Stoppa) |
|
|
Right then: we’ve shown you Prosecco and other white
Italian spumante wines; Moscato and other sweet Italian
dessert wines but here is a serious ‘vivace’ red. An
excellent grape in its
own right, when presented vivace the Gutturnio
experience is rich and exuberant. Goes well with fatty
meats. Must try a little chilled with a good game pie or
liver pate. |
